Week 37: A Busy Week with Lots of Changes

Updated: Mar 22, 2021

We started off the week with good news. Dom had a follow up appointment with the orthopedic surgeon and was told that not only do they not recommend the MRI they wanted at the last appointment but they were very impressed with his progress and the reduction in swelling and normal color returning to his arm. It was a good day.

Tuesday was election day and we decided to relax and see if there would be any clear indication of who would be the 46th president. We didn’t expect to know this night as we knew that the mail in ballots would take time to come in and be counted but, it was interesting to watch the numbers come in. Of course, there was no final answer and there wouldn’t be for days. The next day we walked the puppies around the campground and met up with our friends. We made plans to hang outside at their site and play Cards Against Humanity, which they had never played. It was a lot of fun. We love introducing people to this game.

Thursday we went for a bike ride around the neighborhood. We have been doing good so far on these rides of the concrete paths that weave through the local neighborhoods. We are trying to build up strength in Dom’s arm to get back in the dirt. Unfortunately, this day was not a great day for the pain in Dom’s arm and we cut our ride short from what we had planned. We still managed to ride 6 miles after work.

Friday was another calm day as we continued to wait and see who the president would be for the next 4 years. We walked the puppies around the campground again with our friends. Drac and Tripp love walking with friends and now everytime we go outside, Tripp tries to go out for a walk to see his friends.

Saturday was busy! We started by bringing the Jeep to the dealership to get an oil change, then we drove to the Russian grocer to pick up some smoked beef, sausages and Vegeta. We ended our travels that day with a trip to 5.11 for some boots for Dom. His winter boots have a hole in the air chamber and are squeaky when he walks. The sole is also wearing out from the miles and miles he walked in them at work. When we got back, we went for another walk with the puppies and friends. At night, it was announced that Biden would be the 46th president. We were able to finally put the uncertainties behind us and move forward with everything else in our lives.

Sunday we cooked and ate breakfast outside with our friends. They made pancakes with real Canadian maple syrup and eggs and we cooked jalapeno bacon and sausages from our the Russian Grocer. Everything was delicious. The clouds and heavy pressure rolled in towards the end of our breakfast though, we had planned to ride the road at Erwin Park to help us get back into riding with some elevation, the pressure made Dom’s arm hurt and made my sinuses feel like I had a full blown infection. It really took the wind out of our sails and we didn’t want to make all the effort of getting ready and traveling for a bike ride to just get rained on in the cold. We changed our plans and I rested while Dom went to get the groceries. When he got home I made some Korean Beef in the Instapot and rice for dinner.

It was a busy week and we can’t wait until we are able to ride more, the days get longer again, and we get back to traveling. We are happy that you are coming on our adventures with us and seeing what our first year living in the RV brings. See you next week!
